    Patna, the erstwhile City of Pataliputra lies to the south of the Ganges River. This ancient city has seen the rise & fall of many empires, and has served as the centre of culture, spirituality, politics and commerce for many years. Since Independence, Patna has been the state capital of Bihar.

    On the outskirts of Patna and explorable as day tours are the Buddhist, Hindu and Jain pilgrimage centres of Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya and Pawapuri. Patna City is also a sacred city for the Sikhs, it is here that the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh was born.

    Patna is accessible by road (National Highway 30), it is also on the main line of the Eastern Railway and has an international airport with select flights to South-East Asia.
